James Suckling geeft deze wijn een indrukwekkende 99-100 punten: "A glamorous wine for the vintage, with mesmerizing perfumes of flowers, al dente fruit and citrus flowers." Ook Jane Anson is lovend (98-100 punten): "What a beautiful Mouton, great stuff from wine director Jean-Philippe Danjoy."

"A serious Aile d'Argent for the dinner table", aldus Antonio Galloni, terwijl James Suckling de wijn "complex and real" noemt, met een superieure afdronk (96-97 punten).

Château Mouton Rothschild - 1er Grand Cru Classé, Pauillac

Cabernet Sauvignon 98%, Merlot 2%

James Suckling: 99-100 punten

"A glamorous wine for the vintage, with mesmerizing perfumes of flowers, al dente fruit and citrus flowers. Black currants with some mineral and stone undertones. Medium- to full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and an endless finish. The tannins lead you on a great trip. It is the most cabernet sauvignon ever used in the blend in recent memory. Balanced and structured. 98% cabernet sauvignon and 2% merlot."

Georgina Hindle, Decanter: 98 punten

"A fabulous Mouton with real personality and character and much more seductive than other wines from Pauillac this year. Dark fruit but cool, black cherries and berries with cola and mint touches. Juicy and upfront – immediately salivating in terms of fruit and acidity with gorgeous tannins, chalky, filling but soft not at all dry, fleshy but not too ripe. Intense, voluptuous, almost sensual and not at all austere despite the high percentage of Cabernet. One of the purest expression of what Cabernet can taste like on this site. Velvety, I just adore this for its frankness. Grippy, exciting, full of promise and energy. Wow. A potential 100-point wine."

Robert Parker: 97-99 punten

"A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot, the 2025 Mouton Rothschild is a dense, powerful wine, unwinding in the glass with aromas of crème de cassis, blueberries, espresso roast, cigar wrapper and violet. Full-bodied, deep and dense, it's rich, layered and concentrated, with prodigious mid-palate presence and a long, youthfully structured finish. Small berries in Cabernet Sauvignon, below one gram even in the older vines, explain this Mouton's remarkable intensity of flavor. The grand vin represents 52% of the production and checks in at 13.1% alcohol."

Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux: 98-100 punten

"Highest Cabernet Sauvignon on record (since 94% for the 2010 vintage), stately and reserved at first, then totally joyful. The right austerity, coupled with squid ink character and fabulous hidden depths that are going to take their time to fully unroll, with the incense of the oak coming through only after a good 10 minutes in the glass, you barely perceive it on the first tasting. What a beautiful Mouton, great stuff from wine director Jean-Philippe Danjoy. 52% Grand Vin, basically pure old vine Cabernet. And an interesting side note - in September there was no weekend picking, a clear indication that there was no stress about the harvest dates. 3.76pH. Harvest September 5 to 20. 100% new oak. 2036-2055."

Reviews Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild 2025

James Suckling: 95-96 punten

"Open and juicy with a plush nature as well as a noticeable ripeness, yet it's only 13% alcohol. Medium- to full-bodied with fine, velvety tannins and a savory, flavorful finish. Juicy and layered. Structured. Plenty of blackberry and blueberry character. A blend of 58% cabernet sauvignon, 36% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot."

Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux: 94 punten

"The aromatics are very signature Petit Mouton - gentle toasted sandalwood and cedar, mint leaf, incense, but the impression on the palate is of fresher fruit, blueberry pie, crayon and slate. Will deepen further over ageing, but full of promise already, juicy with salted cracker and oyster shell, a little less exuberant perhaps than usual at this early stage, and I am reminded of the 2023, the 3.72ph making its presence felt. Harvest September 5 to 20.50% new oak. 2035-2055."

Neal Martin, Vinous: 91-93 punten

"The 2025 Le Petit-Mouton has a very intense nose, blackberry and cassis mixed with violet and a touch of wild mint. The palate is medium-bodied, with pliant tannins, fine acidity, quite spicy on the mid-palate with a liberal sprinkling of black pepper, nicely focused with a classically styled finish. It will need two to three years in bottle. Drink 2031-2050."

Reviews Aile d'Argent 2025

James Suckling: 96-97 punten

"A serious Aile d'Argent with sliced green mangoes, pears and green apples. Full-bodied. Framed with phenolics and minerals. Complex and real. A touch of flint and cedar at the end. Super finish. A blend of 63% sauvignon blanc, 29% semillion, 7% sauvignon gris and 1% muscadelle."

Georgina Hindle, Decanter: 96 punten

"Fragrant, floral and full of fruity aromas on the nose - grassy too, with elderflower, crisp green apple and peach. Lively and tangy, this has acidity and a certain weight that kicks in almost straight away but is perfectly matched to ripe, just-fleshy apple and white plum fruit with a clean, very clear salty ending. It’s a little subdued after the initial burst of flavour, but there’s something really quite delicate and finessed about this. Cool and fresh, finishes chalky. No hot fruit/tropical characteristics. Lovely. Earliest ever harvest. No malolactic fermentation. 1% Muscadelle completes the blend. 3.13pH."

Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux: 96 punten

"White flowers, white peach, soft pear, grilled cloves and cumin, a full mouth experience of fresh acidities, expansive slate texture and a ton of juice. This is a white that needs a year or two to reveal its full complexity, as there is clear phenolic structure, and it will only widen and deepen with a little more age. Excellent, a little hidden right now. 3.13 pH. Harvest August 19 to 29. 45% new oak, the earliest picking on record, no malolactic fermentation this year, because the richness was there, instead lees stirring during ageing. Jean-Emmanuel Danjoy technical director."
