“What is essential is invisible to the eye” – Chateau Léoville Poyferré De 2024 laat precies dat essentiële spreken in het glas: een terroirgedreven wijn met diepgang, elegantie en een opvallend toegankelijke stijl. Zwart fruit, grafiet, viooltjes en fijne kruiden komen samen tot een wijn die direct charmeert, maar ook moeiteloos de tijd trotseert. Voor de jaargang 2024 is er sprake van een lage opbrengst en een uitzonderlijke concentratie zonder dat de verfijning verloren gaat. Vakmanschap zit diep verankerd bij de familie Cuvelier, die al generaties lang Château Léoville Poyferré leidt. Van duurzame wijngaardzorg tot nauwkeurige vinificatie: elk detail telt. Figeac 2024 bewijst opnieuw waarom het château tot de meest geliefde namen van Saint-Émilion behoort. Beschut door oude eikenhagen en gelegen op het meest omvangrijke kiezelterroir van Saint-Émilion, vormt Figeac een unieke enclave van rust en biodiversiteit. Hier komt alles samen: de rijke historie van de familie Manoncourt, een terroir dat elegantie voortbrengt en een state of the art kelder. Door een strenge selectie was de opbrengst van 2024 klein, maar het resultaat is des te mooier. Zoals Vinous opmerkt: “Figeac was one of those estates that took the risk of waiting to harvest, rejecting just over 20% of the crop in the sorting process to produce a compelling wine despite the challenging conditions.”
De blend bevat opvallend veel Cabernet Sauvignon voor een wijn van de rechteroever, een kenmerkend element van de klassieke stijl van Figeac. Het zorgt voor extra frisheid, structuur en lengte.

Château Ausone behoort tot de meest legendarische namen van Bordeaux. Het château kent een rijke geschiedenis die teruggaat tot de 14e eeuw en heeft wijngaarden waarin er wijnstokken van meer dan honderd jaar oud staan. Ausone produceert minder dan Pétrus en behoort niet alleen tot de meest exclusieve, maar ook tot de meest verfijnde en consistent hooggewaardeerde wijnen van Bordeaux.
De jaargang 2024 krijgt lovende woorden van gerenommeerde wijncritici. James Suckling noemt het “a really classic Ausone, reminiscent of the great ones of the 1980s,” terwijl Vinous de wijn prijst om zijn “pure sensuality” en beschrijft als: “Intensely perfumed, pliant and silky on the palate, Ausone is haunting in its beauty. All the elements are so well balanced. Black cherry, lavender, mocha, espresso and exotic spice overtones all take shape in the glass.”

"The 2024 Léoville-Poyferré was picked from September 24 to October 10 at 26.42 hl/ha. There was some reverse osmosis on the Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties. Quasi-Pauillac in style, it offers quite backward black fruit, hints of melted tar and graphite on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied and quite succulent with fleshy ripe tannins, tobacco-laced black fruit, brown spices and light undergrowth. With a fine supple landing on the finish in typical "LP" fashion, this constitutes a delicious, early-drinking Poyferré that will be more approachable than other vintages. "Gorgeous fragrance on the nose, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and black cherries, floral roses and iris - you can really smell the Cabernet Franc. Lovely intensity of fruit with such freshness from the start. A burst of acidity and zingy red fruit which then transforms into a soft and creamy mid palate before turning more mineral and crisp on the finish. Really a lovely journey from start to end. Well proportioned, not a light wine. This has a touch of chew with cooling minty liquorice aspects. It’s elegant, leaning into the vintage in terms of density, but wow there is such delicacy and detail here. I love it because it’s so relaxed and so charming and full of fruit.
