Sporting a deep garnet-purple color, the 2020 la Grave offers alluring scents of crushed black cherries, black raspberries and redcurrant jelly, followed by hints of dried Provence herbs, unsmoked cigars and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate bursts with refreshing red and black berry flavors, supported by plush tannins and just enough freshness, finishing savory.

The 2020 La Grave is a powerful, savory wine. Black cherry, gravel, incense, dried herbs and smoke are some of the notes that build in this decidedly virile, imposing Pomerol. La Grave is more muscle than finesse, but all the elements are impeccable balanced. I imagine the tannins will always remain rather burly. La Grave is a potent, structured Pomerol for the dinner table.

Liquorice, blue fruits, pomegranate, floral scents and almost a jammy touch to the fruit aromas. Slightly chunky on the palate, rich and dense with a kick of liquorice, tobacco, clove and bitter dark chocolate. Feels a little tense still, lots going on, but coiled, not yet ready to play. There’s a sleekness for sure, it’s well worked, precision going on, but this is also potent and a little restricted on the finish. Touches of cool blue fruit, mint and slate on the final flavour. Feels like good potential but this is a bit shy right now. Long undercurrent of length, though. Potent and pure, just hiding.
