If the grand vin is built for the ages, the 2024 La Dame de Montrose plays a different hand, emphasizing suavity and charm. Offering up notes of blackcurrants, raspberries, violets and licorice, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and suave, with supple tannins, lively acids and a seamless, complete profile. It's a blend of 73% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc that sees a more reductive élevage than the grand vin.

The 2024 La Dame de Montrose is a very elegant, sexy wine. Lifted aromatics, bright red-toned fruit and silky tannins speak to finesse. All the elements are so well balanced. A burst of red cherry, mocha and crushed flowers extends the soft, supple finish. The 2024 is being raised in approximately 63% used oak, 20% foudre, 15% new oak and 2% amphora. It's an incredibly charming wine that should drink well on release.

A refined and crunchy second wine with red currants and blackcurrants, some crush stones and juicy tannins. A nice center palate. Balanced and pretty for the vintage. Medium finish. From organically grown grapes. 73% melrot, 20% cabernet sauvignon, 4% petite verdot and 3% cabernet franc.

Ripe blackcurrant, sweet strawberry and cranberry aromas, expressive and open aromatically, certainly smells rich and concentrated with a lovely vivid purple colour to the rim. Some inky notes, cool blueberries, iodine and liquorice too. Chewy and so friendly and charming, this is generous in terms of fruit with purity and really lifted acidity but balanced in terms of acidity and fruit. Finessed tannins, not as much weight as usual, but this is approachable. Ageing will soften the edges. I like the definition though, really high definition winemaking here. So focussed, almost razor sharp. Lightly presented, more sour and sherbet like. Fun. 3% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. 35% production. 20% of foudre, 15% new oak, rest in old barrels. 3.50pH.
