De tweede wijn van Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. Rijp zwart fruit wordt ondersteund door florale tonen en een vleugje cederhout. Het mondgevoel is soepel en rond, met aangenaam geïntegreerde tannines. Kruidige en aardse tonen en een subtiele mineraliteit geven extra diepte aan deze gebalanceerde wijn.

Omschrijving

Château Pichon Comtesse is gelegen op een sublieme locatie in het zuiden van de appellatie Pauillac, op steenworp afstand van de monding van de Gironde. Het château beslaat 102 hectare aan wijngaard, verdeeld over ruim 100 plots.

Welke zijn gelegen tegen de Premier Grand Cru Classé wijngaarden van Château Latour, met wie het domein een vergelijkbaar terroir en microklimaat deelt. De sterdruif van de Médoc; cabernet sauvignon, heeft het grootste aandeel in de wijngaarden, maar ook de andere kenmerkende Bordeauxdruiven; merlot, cabernet franc en petit verdot worden gecultiveerd. De wijn behoort tot de meest wulpse wijnen van de Médoc, toe te schrijven aan het (voor Médoc) relatief hoge aandeel merlot. Sinds 2007 is het château in handen van champagnehuis Louis Roederer.

Robert Parker Like a number of second wines from the best classified growths, the 2022 Resèrve de la Comtesse shares much of the personality of the grand vin this year, delivering aromas of blackberries, violets and exotic spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy palate with a rich core of fruit framed by powdery tannins.

Vinous The 2022 Réserve de la Comtesse is fabulous. Vibrant and impeccable in its balance, the 2022 is so impressive, mostly because of its balance. In some recent years the Réserve has been quite potent, but the 2022 leans more into the realm of sophistication, and polish. Hints of dark-fleshed fruit, licorice, lavender and spice linger. Don't miss it. Tasted four times.

James Suckling The density of fruit is serious with blackcurrants, black berries, crushed stone and coffee beans. Yet it’s not heavy and overdone. The palate is full and rich, but also agile and weightless, with tannins that are spread and pretty.

Decanter Gorgeous aromatics, vibrant but deep too. Tannins make the impact straight away, there’s good density here, clear concentration this is carrying some heft in the really quite potent dark fruit flavours, spiced edges and sense of heat that comes through the underneath. Broad but focussed, definitely more streamlined than wide and plush, with almost chewy tannins but that have a pure cool blue fruit, liquorice and slate grip to them giving them edges and creating the linear focus. Feels well constructed, still on the tense nervous side but it has an appealing juicy grip too. 3.8pH. 50% grand vin, 50% second wine. 3.8pH. 2% Cabernet Franc completes the blend.
