Ontdek Château Bélair-Monange, een juweel in de kroon van Saint-Émilion. Sinds 2008 in handen van de familie Moueix, die het domein hernoemde ter ere van Anne-Adèle Monange, belichaamt Château Bélair-Monange een perfecte symbiose van traditie en vooruitstrevende wijnbouw. Met uitbreidingen vanuit het aangrenzende Château Magdelaine en een grondige renovatie van zowel wijngaard als faciliteiten, blijft Château Bélair-Monange toonaangevend in het produceren van topwijnen. De wijngaarden zijn voornamelijk beplant met Merlot (80%) en Cabernet Franc (20%), wat resulteert in wijnen van diepe complexiteit en elegante structuur. Offering up aromas of sweet cherries, cassis, pipe tobacco, loamy soil and spices, the 2021 Belair Monange is medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, with powdery tannins and a bright spine of acidity, concluding with a long, intensely saline finish. As young vines replanted on the plateau start to dominate the blend, the identity of this cru is becoming more and more marked, delivering wines of precision and sapidity.

The 2021 Bélair-Monange is a very beautiful wine. Fruit forward and punchy, the 2021 makes quite a first impression. Ripeness is naturally less pushed here than in recent vintages - that is the year - but it is a style that works so well, as this site offers plenty of richness on its own. A rush of inky red/purplish fruit fills out the layers nicely. There's not a ton of nuance or detail yet, but that will likely come in time. This is very nicely done.

Medium to full body with creamy, velvety tannins. Polished and plush. Pretty spice notes, such as white pepper and cloves to the ripe dark-plum and berry fruit. Some pine cones. Fine, ripe and textured. Concentrated for the vintage. Wonderful length, too.

Decanter
A bit quiet aromatically. Bright and shiny straight away, juicy with acidity and minerality to the fore - a real coating of liquorice and flint straight away, fruit feels ripe and perfumed with a lean texture and racy acidity - salty, straight and focused. Tannins are slightly grippy and grainy giving the frame and structure. Needs more time to come together but this feels well worked, with a certain fullness. Salty strawberries, herbal raspberries, wet stone, flint and graphite. You really get the terroir effect here and the final flavour leaves you wanting more. Delicate yet determined. I like it a lot.
