Cos d'Estournel Blanc behoort al jaren tot de absolute top van Bordeaux Blanc. De wijn combineert de aromatische precisie van sauvignon blanc met de rijkdom en textuur van sémillon, afkomstig van oude stokken op een uitzonderlijk terroir nabij de Gironde. In het glas intens en gelaagd, met aroma's van citrus, witte perzik, grapefruit, limoenrasp en subtiele exotische tonen, ondersteund door een verfijnde mineraliteit en lichte rokerigheid. De smaak is krachtig maar strak gedefinieerd, met veel spanning, fraîcheur en een bijna ziltige precisie in de lange afdronk. Wijnhuis "Château Cos d'Estournel"

Château Cos d'Estournel is een van de grote namen van de linkeroever van Bordeaux, gelegen direct ten zuiden van Lafite Rotschild, in de appellatie Saint-Estèphe. Het wijnhuis dankt zijn naam aan de heuvel "Cos" - een grindrijke uitloper die uitzonderlijk gunstig is voor de teelt van cabernet sauvignon.

In 1811 werd het château opgericht door de excentrieke Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, die zijn wijnen tot in India exporteerde. Zijn fascinatie voor de Oriënt leeft voort in de opvallende architectuur van het domein, met pagodedaken en een monumentale poort uit Zanzibar.

Cos d'Estournel wordt sinds 1855 erkend als Deuxième Grand Cru Classé en staat bekend om zijn krachtige maar elegante stijl. Onder leiding van Michel Reybier (sinds 2000 eigenaar) is het château uitgegroeid tot een van de meest consistente en innovatieve topdomeinen van Bordeaux.

De wijnen combineren concentratie met finesse, hebben een uitstekend bewaarpotentieel en worden vaak vergeleken met de Premiers Crus. Naast de Grand Vin produceert het huis ook een verfijnde tweede wijn (Les Pagodes de Cos) en diverse microcuvées. Een vaste waarde onder Bordeaux-liefhebbers!

Robert Parker The 2025 Blanc, a blend of 56% Sauvignon Blanc and 44% Sémillon, reveals aromas of white fruits, herbs and spice. Medium- to full-bodied, it’s dense and structured with a tensile, more energetic profile than usual, concluding with a citrus-inflected, long and fresh finish.

Vinous The 2025 Cos d'Estournel Blanc was picked between August 25 and September 3 and matured in just 6% new oak. It is very fragrant and pure on the nose, Anjou pear and wild peach, vanilla pod and light chamomile scents evolving with time in the glass. Fine delineation. The palate is very well balanced, with a silver thread of acidity. Fine tension, quite persistent in the mouth, with a brisk and focused finish, this is a delicious white Cos d'Estournel that, again, will be difficult to resist once in bottle.

Decanter Strong Sauvignon Blanc aromatics with fragrant floral elements. Juicy and alive, this has a citrus and crisp green apple kick - succulent and mouthwatering. A mix between lemon sherbet, pear drops, pineapple chunks and a really cool, fresh apple juice. Lovely combination of flavours ending clean and slightly stony. Textured, racy, fresh, understated. Totally moreish. Doesn’t wow like it can, but there’s something so appealing and compelling about this. 3pH.
