Château Pavie-Macquin wordt beheerd door Nicolas Thienpont en ligt naast Château Pavie en Château Troplong Mondot. De wijngaard wordt sinds 1990 op biodynamische wijze gecultiveerd. De wijn is zeer rijk en expressief met rood fruit gecombineerd met kruidige en florale tonen. De structuur is zijdezacht en heeft een duidelijke invloed van de opvoeding op 50% nieuw hout. Een klassieke Saint-Émilion.

Wijnhuis "Château Pavie Macquin"
De wijngaard van Château Pavie-Macquin is een Grand Cru Classé gelegen op het bekende kalksteenplateau, naast de Mondot berg. De 14,5 hectare tellende wijngaard kent voor een groot deel wijnstokken van meer dan 60 jaar oud. Al sinds 1986 wordt er in de wijngaard volledig biodynamisch gewerkt: iets wat destijds nieuw was voor Bordeaux.
Bij Château Pavie-Macquin zijn ze altijd op zoek naar balans en perfectie. Zo wordt in de wijngaard gewerkt met respect voor het bodemleven, beheersen ze de opbrengsten, selecteren ze de gezonde en rijpe druiven, doen ze de vinificatie met hele trossen, hanteren ze een subtiele extractie door nauwgezet onderdompelen van de hoed, werken ze met lange inweektijden en rijping sur lie.

The 2024 Pavie Macquin offers up attractive aromas of raspberries, violets, rose petals and spices, framed by a discreet 45% new oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and pure, it's built around a tangy, somewhat assertive spine of acidity that lends this wine an angular, edgy profile. Of course, that may integrate with additional élevage.

The 2024 Pavie Macquin is positively gorgeous. Silky, layered and voluptuous, the 2024 is so impressive right out of the gate. Plush contours wrap around a core of purplish fruit, lavender, licorice, spice, menthol and chocolate. All the signatures of this site come through loud and clear. Savory and floral notes supported by clean veins of salinity extend the persistent finish. Pavie Macquin shows what was possible in 2024. The choice to harvest everything in October (from the 3rd to the 8th) paid off big time. Aging is in French oak, with about 15% in larger 500-liter barrels, 45% new wood overall. Tasted three times.

Decanter
Radiant and really lively red berry fruits - a touch of cranberry and just-ripe strawberry with really clean, straight acidity that gives this lift but also some tension. Well built, tannins are integrated and this is just all about the fruit with some mineral aspects around the sides. Juicy, lively, fun, fresh and joyous. Not plush but textured enough. Will need a bit of time to soften but this is characterful and full of personality. 3.3pH. A yield of 42hl/ha.
