Château Bourgneuf
Pomerols zijn over het algemeen zwoel en fluwelig met een aardse toon. Sappig met een aroma van chocolade, koffie, ceder en fruitimpressies van pruimen en zwarte bessen. Deze schitterend gemaakte Bourgneuf-Vayron heeft het allemaal. Deze wijn kan goed ouderen en zal in de komende jaren nog meer drinkgenot geven.

Wijnhuis "Château Bourgneuf"
Château Bourgneuf is al sinds 1821 in het bezit van de familie Vayron. Hun wijngaard van 9 hectare uit één stuk is uitstekend gelegen op de flank van het plateau, ten westen van Château Trotanoy. Het microklimaat daar heeft in 1956 een aantal percelen beschermd tegen de verschrikkelijke vrieskou. Vandaar dat de wijngaard zo’n 25% oude wijnranken telt (60 à 80 jaar oud). De bodem bestaat uit kiezelhoudende kleigrond, met crasse de fer. Druivensoorten: 90 % merlot en 10 % cabernet franc.

The 2025 Bourgneuf continues this estate's rapid upward trajectory. Unwinding in the glass with notes of sweet blackberries, spices and truffle, it's medium- to full-bodied, dense and layered, with a broad, unctuous attack, excellent concentration and a long, resonant finish. This nine-hectare estate is situated below Trotanoy (one block touches the rear of the château) on clay-rich gravels.

The 2025 Bourgneuf is a powerful, heady wine that captures all the natural intensity of the year. Dark-fleshed fruit, new leather, menthol, chocolate, mocha and lavender all wrap around the palate. Silky contours and lifted floral overtones frame the gorgeous, resonant finale. Tasted two times.

Quite a dark nose, tobacco, blackcurrant leaf, some cigar smoke and floral touches. Juicy and grippy, this has lots of tannins but also lots of mouthwatering acidity that keeps the two in harmony. Ends slightly clipped and tight with a crushed stone, liquorice and cola element that makes this a little serious and stops this from being charming at this point. Still there’s liveliness with a round mouthfeel and lifted mid palate. A little sharp and tense despite the wide tannins.
